"Pilate also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read, 'Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.' Many of the Jews read this inscription, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Aramaic, in Latin, and in Greek. So the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but rather, ‘This man said, I am King of the Jews.’” Pilate answered, “What I have written I have written.” (John 19:22) ESV

It’s amazing how God brought this to be, that His Son, hanging on the Cross will have a sign over His head declaring who He is. The teachers of the law didn't like what it read. Whether they liked it or not, those words were still there. Whether they liked it or not the truth was THE TRUTH. And that truth would be proclaimed.

Those who never accepted Jesus are being tormented in hell, lamenting that the one they rejected was indeed The Son of God. The Pharisees who insisted Pilate to replace those words with “This man said, I am King of the Jews” , know now He truly was the Messiah- The Son Of God, but now its to late for them to repent.

Oh, the great agony they must feel! The words of Christ playing again and again, the image of Christ on the cross, in which they hung Him in. The memory of them shouting “crucify him!”, “save yourself, if you truly are the Son of God!” I can only imagine the great torture. I can only imagine their words as they say “why?” “Why didn’t we believe Him?” “He was truly God.” “What have we done!”

Jesus is "the truth". His truth will always be TRUTH. We can walk away from it or just straight out reject and mock it. But that would not change the fact that Jesus is God. He is the King that all creation will bow down too.
